The State of New Jersey has advised us that they have 1 new Covid-19 death to report for today for Wayne Township. Unfortunately, we have lost 186 residents to this pandemic. Our condolences go out to the families of all the precious residents that we have lost. 

I can also report that we have 1 positive test result from today’s report. Our total positive number is now at 1455. The State of New Jersey also has informed us that a total of 5188 people from Wayne that were tested, tested negative. We need to continue our social distancing.  

Of our new positive cases for today include: 1 female age 11.

NJDEP Drinking Water Flushing Guidance For Restoring Water Quality in Buildings with Low or No Use

As per Governor Murphy’s Executive Order, we will be extending our Grace period for May 1st property tax payments to June 1st. Any payments received after June 1st will be charged interest back to May 1st.

Mayor Christopher Vergano, the Wayne Township Office of Emergency Management and the Township Health Department would like to provide the following guidance to all residents, businesses, and visitors to Wayne regarding COVID-19 related orders. 

· All previous orders regarding COVID-19 issued from the Township of Wayne have been rescinded. 
· Everyone is bound by the executive orders issued by New Jersey Governor Philip D. Murphy and related administrative orders issued by the Director of the NJOEM, NJSP Superintendent Colonel Patrick Callahan. 
· Governor Murphy’s stay at home order issued in Executive Order 107 is still in effect. However, there have been numerous changes and exceptions created recently in Executive Orders 133, 142 and 143 which allow for the opening of parks and golf courses, the resumption of construction, curbside pickup of merchandise at all retail businesses, use of beaches, lakes, and in-vehicle gatherings for religious services, graduations, and drive-in movies.

As per Governor Murphy’s Executive Order, we will be extending our Grace period for May 1st property tax payments to June 1st.  Any payments received after June 1st will be charged interest back to May 1st.

As per the Mayor and Administration:
· 2nd quarter 2020 taxes are still due May 1, 2020 
· interest will not be charged until after June 12, 2020, on any payments that total in principal $10,000 or less
· There will be NO interest charged on water/sewer payments for 2020 that total $10,000 or less
· February 2020 1st quarter no interest charged till after June 12, 2020, on any payments that total in principal $10,000 or less
· ALL interest for Taxes, water and sewer will revert to the original due dates if not paid by June 12, 2020.

According to The State of New Jersey, "In light of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the State has placed funding for Homestead Credits in reserve to meet emergency and statutorily required obligations”. Therefore the homestead rebate will not be applied to your May 1, 2020 tax bill.

COVID-19 Update from Mayor Chris Vergano:

The State of New Jersey has advised us that they have zero new Covid-19 deaths to report for today for Wayne Township. Unfortunately, we have lost 179 residents to this pandemic. Our condolences go out to the families of all the precious residents that we have lost.

I can also report that we have had zero positive test result from today’s report. Our total positive number is now at 1421. The State of New Jersey also has informed us that a total of 4,500 people from Wayne that were tested, tested negative. We need to continue our social distancing.
