The Wayne Police Department, under the command of Chief Donald Stouthamer and Deputy Chief John Reardon, is located in the municipal complex at 475 Valley Road

The department is staffed with 119 sworn police personnel including the chief, deputy chief, 3 captains, 8 lieutenants, 18 sergeants, 16 detectives, 60 patrol officers, 2 community policing officers, 5 school resource officers, 1 Detective assigned to MIS as a Public Safety technology coordinator. We also have 3 special officer II police officers.

The department also has a staff of 29 civilian personnel including 1 part time and 16 full time E-911 dispatchers, 4 data entry clerks, 5 secretaries, 2 park rangers and 1 Public safety computer analyst.

The department is made up of 3 divisions: Patrol, Investigations, and Operations.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

A lieutenant, who reports to the Chief of Police, investigates various complaints of alleged officer misconduct, demeanor complaints, or complaints of differential treatment.  He will also be managing the accreditation project, which brings the departments’ policies, procedures and practices into alignment with standards promulgated by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.

PUBLIC SAFETY COMPUTER SERVICES

 Under the direction of the Chief of Police is the Computer Services office. This office is staffed with 1 detective and a civilian computer analyst. They maintain all the technical equipment and programs used by the department, along with the Mobile Computers that are installed in all of the Police vehicles.
