The Wayne Police Department, under the command of Chief John Reardon, is located in the municipal complex at 475 Valley Road.

The department is staffed with 119 sworn police personnel including the Chief, 3 Captains, 7 Lieutenants, 18 Sergeants, 16 Detectives, 60 Patrol Officers, 2 Community Policing Officers, 2 School Resource Officers, and 1 Detective assigned to the Township's Information Technologies Division to work collaboratively as the Town's Public Safety Technology Coordinator. We also have 2 Special Officer II police officers.

The department also has a staff of 29 civilian personnel including 2 part time and 16 full time E-911 Dispatchers, 4 data entry Clerks, 5 Secretaries, 2 Park Rangers and 1 Public Safety Technology System Administrator assigned to work collaboratively with the Township's Information Technologies Division.

The department is made up of 3 divisions: Patrol, Investigations, and Operations.

The Office of the Chief of Police consists of the Chief, the office Secretary, and two police units:

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS (INTERNAL AFFAIRS)

A Lieutenant, who reports to the Chief of Police, investigates various complaints of alleged officer misconduct, demeanor complaints, or complaints of differential treatment.  To contact Professional Standards/Internal Affairs, please call 973-694-0600, extension 3588 or via the Township's Resident Support Center.

PUBLIC SAFETY COMPUTER SERVICES

Under the direction of the Chief of Police are 1 Detective and 1 Civilian Computer Analyst assigned to work collaboratively with the Township's Information Technologies Division in support of all advancing technologies utilized by Public Safety, consisting of Computer Aided Dispatch, Records & Document Management,  Audio and Video Surveillance, Mobile Computing, Radio Communications, as well as interfaces with national, state, county and local informational databases.
