High Mountain This 1153.7 acre site offers an extensive trail system.  Those individuals who are energetic enough to hike to the top will be afforded a view of the New York City skyline that is unsurpassed in this area.  This is the highest spot in North Jersey (885 feet) between High Point and New York.  High Mountain preserve is one of the largest tracts of forested land in the Piedmont region of Northern New Jersey and harbors the globally imperiled plant species called Torrey’s Mountain Mint.  Several rock shelters located within the park have been determined to be sites of pre-historic human habitation.  Trail maps are available below.
