SPRING 2008 <top of page>

TENNIS COURTS - Form - Flyer

Badges Required. Registration is held in the Parks and Recreation office Monday-Friday 8:30 A.M. - 4:15 P.M. March thru September. Courts are lighted late April thru September until 10:00 P.M.

SPRING/SUMMER/FALL

TENNIS LESSONS ADULT/CHILDREN

Registration for lessons begins early February. Lessons held early May thru November. There are six (6) one hour lessons per session. A current tennis badge is required to participate in all lessons. 

GIRLS SOFTBALL - Flyer - Schedule

Registration begins in January through Friday, March 7, 2008.  There are two divisions:   Intermediate Division Grades 5-6 Monday-Saturday; Senior Division Grades 7-9 Monday-Saturday. The season runs April thru mid June.  Fee is $40.00

ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT

Held at Wayne Valley High School baseball field on Saturday,  March 8, 2008.  Begins at 10:30 A.M. No prior registration required. Toddlers thru 7 years of age. (WAYNE RESIDENTS ONLY.) Rain date: March 15th.

INTRODUCTORY FENCING PROGRAM - Flyer

Registration begins in March.  (8 week)  Introductory youth/adult program starting April 14th.  Registration fee - $155.00

MEN'S SOFTBALL LEAGUE - Schedule

Registration is by teams in the Recreation office. Individuals also welcome. Play begins early April and runs thru July.  Games are Monday-Friday evenings.  Must be a Wayne  resident to join. Team openings available. 

MEN'S 40+ SOFTBALL LEAGUE - Schedule

Registration is by teams in the Recreation Office. Individuals also welcome.  Play begins late April thru July.  Games are  Monday- Friday evenings.  Must be 40 years of age and a Wayne Resident to join. Team openings available.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

Monday, May 26, 2008. - The parade begins at 11:00 A.M. and marches down Valley Road to the municipal building.

TRACK & FIELD - Flyer

The Wayne Striders Track & Field Team participates in the NJ Striders Track League.  Practice is twice a week in the early evening.  Track Meets are on Sundays.  Registration begins in January.  Season runs late March thru mid June.  For Boys and Girls ages 7 to 14. Late March thru mid June, Wednesday/Friday. Fee is $40.00.

PREAKNESS POOL- KILROY PARK - Pool - Lake - All Facilities - Swim Team

Registration begins in April.  Both facilities open Saturday,  May 24, 2008 through Monday, September 1, 2008. Half hour swim lessons begin at 10:00 A.M. at both facilities beginning in late June.  Swim Team practice starts in June at North Cove.  Meets are held at home and away.  Ages 6 - 7 welcome.

SHUFFLEBOARD

Open play for senior citizens at Kilroy Park - June - September.

GIRLS TRAVELING SOFTBALL - Flyer - Schedule

Tryouts will be held in the Spring. Program is for Wayne girls 8 - 16 years of age. Teams are broken into four age groups. Fee T.B.A.

CONNIE MACK BASEBALL

Tryouts will be held in late May for two teams. Program is for Wayne boys 17-18 years of age.  No prior registration required. Fee T.B.A.

JUNIOR OLYMPICS - Flyer

Held at Wayne Valley High School on Saturday, May 31, 2008 beginning at 9:00 A.M.  No fee, however, pre-registration required. Grades 2 thru 7. 

Rain Date June 14, 2008.

For grades 2 - 12. Mid July. One week camp from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. at Wayne Valley High School Track. Instructor: Joel Pasternack.   Fee:TBA

WAYNE  DAY CELEBRATION

SUNDAY, JUNE  8, 2008 - Games, bands, food, craft show, kiddie rides, entertainment and much more.  A fun day for the whole family. 

YOUTH FENCING CAMP - Flyer

Registration begins late May.  Camp dates: July 21 - 25th & August 4th - 8th.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Registration begins in August in the Recreation Office  by teams only.   The  leagues  play Wednesday and Thursday evenings starting in late September through April.  Teams frequently have openings for new players.

CROSS COUNTRY TRACK & FIELD CLINIC

Ages 7 - 14 Boys and Girls begins late September through November.  Fee: $35.00

SENIOR CITIZEN PICNIC

Thursday, September 4th.  Held at James W.  Roe Memorial Pool. All Wayne seniors invited. Pre registration required.  Rain Date: September 5th.

FALL/WINTER: BOWLING - Winter Flyer

First Session:  Begins Saturdays October through December. Second Session begins Saturdays mid January through April.  9:00-11:00 A.M. at T-Bowl Lanes- Preakness Shopping  Center- Hamburg Tpke. Boys and Girls  - pee wees and youth ages 4-13

HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL

For grades K-5 at Wayne Hills High School  on Thursday,  October 30th at 4:30 P.M.  Entertainment,  Prizes, and Refreshments.   All children must be in costume.

FALL/WINTER: CERAMICS - Fall Flyer | Winter Flyer

Adult/Senior Citizen Classes: Wednesday Mornings 10:30 A.M. from late September - May. Pre-registration required.

Children's Classes: Late September - May. Two Sessions: Saturday Mornings 10:30 A.M. and Afternoons at 1:00 P.M. Pre-registration required. $15.00

FALL/WINTER: CHILDRENS DANCE CLASSES - Winter Flyer

Ages 3 - 12 - Ten Week Sessions in Fall/Winter/Spring. Registration and Times to be announced. Fee: $45.00.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Registration begins in August.  The league starts late  September.  Games are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at Wayne Valley High School.  Registration is by team. Team openings are available.

PLATFORM TENNIS

Two Lighted Courts are open all year round and are located on Nellis Drive.  A current tennis badge is required. Courts close at 10:00 P.M.

WRESTLING

Practices held at Wayne Valley & Wayne Hills High School Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M. Matches and tournaments held Friday evenings and some weekends. Grades 3-8 November - February. Fee is $45.00

TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

Thursday, December 4, 2008 held at the municipal parking lot with choral arrangements and a visit from Santa.  Begins at 6:30 P.M. Rain date December 5, 2007.

SCHOLASTIC SKI PROGRAM

Elementary  School    Grades 3-5 (*Six Week Program). Ski at  Campgaw Ski Area in Mahwah on Tuesdays.

Middle School    Grades 6-8 (*Six Week Program)

Ski at Mountain Creek in Vernon on Wednesdays.

Senior High School   Grades 9-12 (*Six Week Program)

Ski at Mountain Creek in Vernon on Fridays.

*Six week program - ski once a week for six consecutive weeks

ICE SKATING LESSONS

Ages tiny tots - 8 grade. To be held at the Ice Vault Skating Arena. Nine Week Program.  Dates: January.  Price/ Time: TBA

Radio controlled aircraft.  Meets second Wednesday of each month at the Civic Center 7:00-10:00 P.M.

CHESS  CLUB

For all ages.  Meets at the Civic Center, 1006 Hamburg Tpke.  Room #9  7:30-10:30 P.M. on Thursdays.

GOLDEN AGE CIRCLE

Meets every Thursday at the PAL Building  1:00 P.M.   August-June.
