Filter Junk E-Mail

In Outlook Web Access, you can create a list of e-mail addresses and/or domains that you want to be treated as junk-email. Then, when you turn on the Outlook Web Access junk e-mail filter, all incoming messages from the specified addresses and/or domains will be sent to the Junk E-Mail folder where you may review and delete them.

Note: Any e-mail addresses and domains that you specify as junk e-mail in Outlook Web Access will also be treated as junk e-mail in Outlook.

To create a list of e-mail addresses and/or domains that will be treated as junk e-mail in Outlook Web Access:

  1. On the Navigation pane, click on the Go to options button. The Options page appears.

  1. Under Privacy and Junk E-mail Prevention, click on the Filter Junk E-mail checkbox.

  1. Click on the Manage Junk E-mail Lists button. The Manage Junk E-Mail Lists -- Web Page Dialog window appears.

  1. Click on the View or Modify list down arrow and select Blocked Senders.

  1. Click on the Add button. The Microsoft Outlook Web Access -- Web Page Dialog window appears.

  1. Under Enter an e-mail address or Internet domain..., enter the desired email address (e.g., jdoe@waynetownship.com) or domain (e.g., monm.edu).

  1. Click on the OK button. The e-mail address of domain appears in the list on the Manage Junk E-Mail Lists -- Web Page Dialog window.
     

  2. Click on the OK button. Any messages received from e-mail addresses or domains listed on the Blocked Senders list appear in the Junk E-Mail folder.

    Note: If you want to create an exception to the Blocked Senders list, then add the exception e-mail address to the Safe Senders list. (E-mail addresses and/or domains on the Safe Senders list will never be treated as junk e-mail.)
