The Wayne Township Office of Emergency Management is a stand alone component of the municipal government. It plans for, coordinates and directs operations at large scale civil emergencies that usually require the coordinated efforts of multiple components of municipal government and/or outside agencies.

The Office of Homeland Security is tasked with assuring the security of the Township infrastructure and the safety and well being of our residents. This office was established in 2002, augmenting Emergency Management, to assist in developing policies that will be utilized for any emergencies that rise to the level of those experienced on September 11, 2001 and in the months following.

The combined office is staffed by one (1) part-time Coordinator/Director, retired Police Captain Sandy Galacio. Mr. Galacio works with Federal, State, County and local agencies to assure the coordination of large scale events. He is also available to assist, advise and guide community leaders in pro-active initiatives in emergency preparedness and response.  The office staff is expanded when activated in preparation for or in response to a large scale emergency.

During planning activities, emergency response and recovery the Coordinator is assisted by three (3) Deputy Coordinators, an Evacuation Officer, a Public Information Officer, a Secretary, and numerous volunteers, including the Local Emergency Planning Council and the Community Emergency Response Team comprised of civilian volunteers.
