Animal Control

AnimalControlThe Wayne Township Health Department advises all residents to be aware that, with the onset of warmer weather, there may be an increased risk of the rabies virus being spread through susceptible wildlife populations. Rabies is a potentially fatal disease if not treated immediately upon possible exposure to a rabid animal.  Transmission of the virus is generally through the saliva of an infected animal and can be spread to humans if a pet cat or dog comes in contact with a rabid animal.  Although post exposure vaccine shots are available, the safest way to not get sick is to prevent any exposure to the rabies virus.  Avoid contact with wild animals, especially ground hogs, raccoons, skunks, opossums, fox and bats, including the little babies.  This is also true of stray kittens, cats or dogs. Ensure your cats and dogs are properly vaccinated for rabies and licensed and cats are kept indoors.  Report any sick wildlife to the animal control personnel at 973.694.9295 or the Wayne Police at 973.694.0600.  Additional information can be found on the State Department of Health website.

Finance Budget

budget
Each year, Wayne Township prepares an annual budget that is approved by the Township Council and the State of New Jersey. This process starts when municipal department hands submit their budget proposals for review by the Business Administrator and the Finance Department.  After review and revision, the budget is introduced to the Township Council for approval. If approved by the Council, the budget is then submitted to the Division of Local Government Services in Trenton for its review and approval.

The Current 2018 Introduced Budget can be found under the Finance Documents
