CDBG 2016 Action Plan

The Township of Wayne, located in Passaic County, New Jersey is a 26.6 square mile suburban community with over 50,000 residents. It first achieved direct entitlement status in fiscal year 1990. The township continues to provide varied housing opportunities as well as expanding opportunities for improvement in the quality of life for its residents. The use of Community Development Block Grant (CDGB) funding has been an important tool in meeting this goal.

Drought Watch

The State of New Jersey has issued a Drought Watch for the area including Wayne Township due to low rainfall amounts over the past few months.

Residents are asked to voluntarily conserve water by limiting their lawn sprinkling and other non-essential water usage.

Public TV and Emergency AM Radio

WayneAM1690Wayne Emergency Radio, AM 1690, broadcasts notifications of emergent situations affecting the Township. The system is a special low power broadcast approved by the FCC designed primarily for on-street or outdoor coverage. They system also monitors the National Weather Service and automatically re-broadcasts any weather related notifications in our area. Additionally, since the system is a special low power broadcast design for on street coverage, we also stream the broadcast on the Internet.

Wayne offers Recycling & Solid Waste Internet ePortal and SmartPhone Apps featuring a detailed Collection Calendar customized to your address. Search the ‘What Goes here?’ database for specific item type instructions. Keep track of upcoming Special Collection Events such as Hazardous Household Items, Prescription Disposal and even Confidential Document Shredding! Report a Waste Problem or Send Comments & Suggestions through the App.
